To prepare for retreats:
Try to connect to what you want from the retreat - make some notes. Think about what you would like for yourself after the retreat - visualise and really play out what you want to feel, how you want it to be, what will it look like etc. The clearer you are with really what you want, the easier it will become in the process. We will have a call and prepare for the retreat together also.
Engage in some meditation & mindfulness exercises, listening to some audios. Exercising the muscles of the mind - you can listen to good speakers - if you would some suggestions, please email me.
Practice good health hygiene, try to have good routines and steer your mind towards what you would like, rather than what you don`t want or your fears. Creating new routines are very beneficial for consolidating change.
Remain grounded: doing body scans can really help, deep breathing techniques and some reading are always helpful. Follow some good speakers online such as: Brene Brown, Tara Brach, Eckhart Toll, Adyashanti, Michael Singer, Louise hay, Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein, Ram Dass, Dalai Lama for mindfulness/meditations. Couples: David Schnarch, Terry Real RTL. Talks: Dr Ethan Kross, Sounds true talks, Lewis Howes, Stan Tatkin, Daniel Siegel, Alex Howard, Sheleana Aijana, Diane Poole Heller, Niraj Naik. For Audios of mindfulness: Sara Raymond from the mindfulness movement. For Dr`s/psychotherapists: Dr Bessel Van Kolk, Dr Gabor mate, Peter Levine, David Burns, Aaron Beck, Eric Berne, Dr Scott Peck, Jordan Peterson, Christine Padesky. Dr Ramani for info on Narcists.
After a retreat, it can be a transition back into normal life and so it is good to have some awareness of this, some tools to use and then we take our time in the movement. Carrying what you have experienced and learnt is an important step to keep the change going (practice, practice, practice). I always suggest that participants write notes throughout the retreat, so that they can refer back to them after the event. Sometimes taking photographs can also be useful to connect back to what was important and what you felt (the meaning) at that time. Most people experience big changes and start to see things much clearer. When you are back, you may notice often how you don`t get triggered in the same way and how you generally respond to things differently - the more you see these changes and connect the better.
