Psychotherapy Retreats with Mindfulness & Meditation

One week long intensive therapy retreats are run throughout the year, each with different themes. Focused on intensive therapy and creating deeper, long lasting change.

The retreats are based in CBT-Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, focused on you and the change that you want, to achieve your goals. We use a combination of different therapy models incorporating mindfulness, meditation and mind and body work – this is a powerful combination together. There are different specialist therapists coming in, from different backgrounds, for somatic processing - mind and body work, to help release stress, trauma, grief, and many other issues which are often held in the body and mind unconsciously. Creating deeper awareness and making the unconscious conscious, gives us more choice and freedom, which enables us to live more fully in the now and make better decisions.

Focused on change and growth, awareness and understanding, healing and transforming - we help you to become the best version of yourself. Intensive therapy retreats are becoming a well practiced way of making the change happen effectively, efficiently and long lasting. On retreat the change can happen so much quicker than going once a week, because we stay in connected, open and relaxed, embraced in the process. We are able to move past our defences and see more clearly the past story, with the meaning we gave it. It also helps to be in a beautifully relaxing and harmonising Villa, surrounded by a beautiful garden, a fantastic landscape within the volcanic mountains and lovely sandy beaches. Intensive retreats create longer lasting effects, because we have time to go deeper, the heart space to open up and the ability to connect more freely away from attachments, others and work. Finding your inner energy again and harnessing your true nature is liberating. We work through relationship patterns and relating difficulties to be more at ease with yourself and others - understanding the past through the interactions in the now.

These retreats are for individuals and couples - couples are run separately.

Therapeutic personal retreats are some of the most innovative and effective healthcare treatments currently available. Producing long term changes and freeing the self from the past experiences, negative and false beliefs, creating peace and harmony. Clinical theory and research suggests that intense therapy over a week can produce deeper, more long lasting results, which can change your life. Your wellbeing is at the top of our list! We want you to achieve the things you want for yourself.

Professional Accreditation means I follow the code of ethics, good practice, continually have clinical supervision throughout my practice, and participate in 30 hours of training every year, which is evidenced based. I work from the CBT model and framework, which is based in science and I incorporate other models and techniques into the framework. I will always be able to explain why I use an intervention, or do a particular exercise and you`ll be able to see how that connects to your goals for therapy.

We work through internal family systems and the roles we can act out consciously and unconsciously. We also work through attachment theory, trauma therapy, creative therapy, emotionally focused therapy connecting mind and body. Understanding somatic programming and then transforming past experiences which are held in the body, can help us thrive again. We explore sabotage patterns, dysfunction and unhelpful patterns so that we can change. Looking into the polyvagal theory and seeing how neuroception comes into our connections with others, exploring neuroscience and our mapping abilities together with survival can help our awareness and growth to becoming who we want to be. Sometimes incorporating elements of acceptance therapy, NLP, DBT, and motivational interviewing to mention some. Learning to work in our window of tolerance can also help us to build good foundations, regulate ourselves and make better choices, living in a balanced and healthy way.

Working in a solution focused way and from different evidence-based therapeutic approaches we can achieve your desired goals. Incorporating positive psychology principles and practices, together with mindfulness and meditation can help speed up the process and helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems. Also this combo helps us integrate spiritual and science based psychology together.

We use mindfulness-based treatment approaches: Mindfulness is paying attention specifically in the present moment and in an open and non-judgemental, non-biased way. This means: with curiosity and without judgements, negative thoughts, perceptions, and habitual reactions which have become automatic. We can be free from these unconscious reactions, if we become conscious of them - to become more conscious we need to pause, connect and see. We often struggle with the gap in between, the pausing to just be. This pause in between reacting and choosing is pure awareness, without interpretation and then we are more able to respond differently - creating the change we desire. Having studied different Eastern philosophies and Buddhists practices since 1995 combining a wide variety of resources, great modalities and following many well know teachers, gurus and doctors you develop a great depth and ability to work with a wide range of issues. Working internationally in Luxembourg with many different clients from all different cultural backgrounds - it has given me much awareness and a great capacity to work with many different clients from many different backgrounds, with much diversity and problems.

Therapy helps us to become aware and learn about our own perceptions, judgments, critical thinking, automatic thoughts, patterns, and beliefs which we have formed from past experiences. It helps us to see how these effect us and the impacts they can have on every passing moment, without us really being aware of them. If we see them, label them, we can learn to let them go, before they come to life.

When we become more mindful, we consciously become more aware of ourselves, what is happening inside of us and around us. We can become more accepting of our own habitual patterns and start to make the changes we desire. We can also become more aware of other peoples habitual patterns and then not get drawn into their dramas.

CBT, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, movement, creative practices and much more can all help us to understand ourselves much clearer and deeper, as to why we are the way we are, why we react the way we do, what triggers us to react in a certain way etc. Being aware of this can then help us to change - do things differently. (see it, label it, let it go, or take different action).

There is one path forward - the path to success, this is focused on what we want and not what we don`t want, the path to failure is focused on what we don`t want and as we are focused on it, we end up following it. Learning about all these concepts and becoming more aware, can set us free and allow us to be ever more present in the moment and respond in ways that create what we want. There is no getting away from positive thinking creates positive feeling, but, if it is done without the deeper understanding, then it is only short lived and we can soon lose interest. With understanding can come acceptance, with acceptance can come relief, with relief can come peace and happiness. This then creates determination, motivation and self drive to go forwards creating the life we want. Difficulties cannot be erased totally from life as they are a part of living, but, we can learn to deal with them differently and this then can create different effects on us.

We can also become preoccupied with what we don’t want and this makes us more ‘critical and hyper- vigilant’ to watch out for these things. This is very natural to us, as we would of course want to avoid anything that creates pain. Just like we are programmed to avoid danger e.g., a tiger – we get a change in chemistry to give us the adrenalin etc., to run. It is similar to avoid stress or emotional pain; we have a chemical change in the brain producing biological and physiological changes. If this is short term, it helps us to deal with the perceived danger, but, if this continues, it becomes unhelpful and can create further problems. Why, because we are focusing on what we don`t want, rather than what we do want - some of this is self-fulfilling prophecy and some because then we make it happen, as we are focusing on it!
